The Caxton Street Development Association has developed a unique Resident Protection Scheme which aims to reduce the impact of major events on the local community. Some aspects of the program include:
- Encourage and promote the use of Public Transport to minimize traffic flow around the venue
- The employment of a Traffic Management Plan to minimize the impact of heavy traffic in Petrie Terrace.
- The employment of an Environmental Protection Plan to manage Waste and Noise to minimize the impact on the cultural and historical precinct of Petrie Terrace
- The deployment of additional Security personnel to guard the residential streets and minimize the impact of box office entrance and exit numbers.
- The provision of Resident Notices and Access Passes for all residents on Weetman, Sherrif, Judge, Caxton Streets affected by the road closure.
- On 6 April 2012, all residents within 1 kilometre radius were delivered a Festival Letter advising Event Details and Road Closure Information and were invited to meet with Promoter and Event Organizers to facilitate all concerns.
- On 25 April 2012, Residents affected by Road Closures were provided with official Vehicle Passes for access on the day.
Here are the Road Closures details:
The Hale Street Off-Ramp (after Cricket Street onto Caxton Street will be closed from 6.00am to 12midnight.
A route for Emergency Vehicles will run to the Site from Sherriff Street up Weetman Street (for Mid site access) and at either end of the Caxton Street road closure.
The following roads will be closed (6am – midnight), Caxton (Petrie Terrace to Hale Street), Weetman, Judge, Chapel and Sherriff streets. We ask that residents consider avoiding parking their vehicles on Caxton St or at the top end of Judge Street.
For those residents living on Menzies Street there will be no access off Caxton Street onto Cathie Street for rear driveway entry from 5 pm Sat 5 May. As per previous years Cathie Street will be fenced along the rear fence line from the corner of Hotel LA’s parking lot to the very end of Cathie Street.
The Brisbane City Council will install Parking Restriction signs from 4pm on Friday 4 May 2012 until midnight Sunday 6 May 2012 on Caxton Street. If you are a resident of these streets, please be aware of these parking restrictions.
Caxton Street will be zoned NO STANDING on Saturday 5 May 2012 to midnight Sunday 6 May 2012.
Caxton Street residents are encouraged to seek alternative off street parking arrangements on surrounding streets to avoid Parking Infringement Notices and potential towing away of resident cars.
Festival Zone Residents affected by Road Closures are eligible for Festival Tickets if they live in these streets:

The Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival is monitored by Brisbane City Council officers on Festival Day.
The HOT LINE will be available from 7am until 11pm.
