Thank You

This past weekend’s Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival was the most successful Caxton Street Development Association event to date, with just shy of 15 000 visitors to the famous Caxton Street precinct attending on the beautiful Brisbane autumn day.

On behalf of the Caxton Street Development Association, we’d like to express our gratitude.

Thanks to everyone who attended and made the event such a success. All of the funds generated from the Street Ticket sales support the Wesley Hospital’s Kim Walters Choices Program.

Publicity is critical in the success of every Festival and without the generous support of the media; the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival 2012 would not have achieved its national reach. A special thank you to our media partners Nova, 4BC and 4BH, Rave Magazine and all media companies (publications, radio, TV and on line) and to all the people who wrote articles, photographed buckets of prawns, blogged, generated interest in columns and editorial mentions or by distributing posters and flyers.

An event of this magnitude would not happen without the support of the Queensland Police, Liquor Licensing, Brisbane City Council, St John’s Ambulance, Asset Protection Security, Moshtix and the dedicated suppliers of the Festival infrastructure.

The Caxton Street Development Association was honoured to have the support of its sponsors: Lion Nathan, Sirromet, Bundaberg Distilling Co, Coca Cola and the Brisbane City Council. As well as its Community Partners, Wanless, World Wide On Line Printing, Breathalyzer Sales and Service, Palace Cinemas, Coaldrakes, Ky Lives, our Festival photographer, Chaplain Watch for relentlessly looking after our Festival patrons, and finally The Pushworth Group. Together with over 50 headlining Festival Artists, not to forget our resident Caxton Street Comics, Festival MCs, Queensland’s own Kath Griffin and New York’s favorite son, Vinnie Monaco, the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival 2012 is privileged to be associated with such fine company.

A massive THANK YOU goes to all our stewards and volunteers who are essential to making the festival work and to the production team who put it all together and make it run like clockwork.  Over 70 dedicated volunteers were involved in the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival 2012, donating more than 840 hours to assist with queue management, guest services and assistance, running the Festival Information Booth, the Festival Hot Line and office, assisting back stage with the performers and their production, running, checking and just doing whatever needed to be done.

We recognize the unique public face in inner city Brisbane that Caxton Street portrays. There is great value in living in Petrie Terrace.  Many love the quick access to Suncorp Stadium games, Caxton Street nightlife, shopping in Paddington or the Barracks or South Bank in walking distance, and jogging along the river pathways.  There is always a trade off however. Inner City living brings many benefits yet living in a famous Entertainment Precinct would also bring with it the inconvenience of noisy messy patrons attending Festivals and Events on a regular basis. Events such as the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival 2012 attract business and attention to the area, adding value to this lifestyle. The Caxton Street Development Association is committed to community consultation and would like to make a very special thank you to the residents of the area who have taken the time to provide valuable feedback and data to enable us to forge a foundation together for a safer healthier happier cleaner Festival with each passing year.

So thank you to everyone involved in this event, see you in 2013!
