The Street is flat and even for wheelchairs however it is a good idea to get a buddy to come along with you – and heaps more fun to share the day as well. There are special Disabled toilets at the Hale Street Stage end of Caxton Street. Ask Guest Services or at the Festival Site Office and a volunteer will gladly assist you.

Safe N Sound

1. Get organized – you will need ID, ticket, important phone numbers in your phone, sun screen, and any medication you are currently on. Bring a hat, charge your mobile phone and bring enough cash for the day. If you have any chronic conditions or illness, just make sure you have details in your pocket or in your bag noting what the deal is and who to call if something happens to you. Ok?
2. Be smart and buy Your Tickets on Line! This gives you access to faster queues. It may take you up to one hour to purchase your ticket on the day as opposed to an average 20 minute queue stroll in the Pre Purchased Line.
3. It’s pretty decent weather in May with a typically blue sky moderate temperature so dress for a beautiful Queensland autumn day. Wear comfortable shoes for walking and dancing – bring a jacket for later in the evening maybe? Earrings, bracelets, chains, rings, watch – all very cute but can be a real pain at Festivals. Leave the bling at home so you can be free to move through the crowd with ease.
4. You’ve got a big day ahead of you. Have a good breakfast and don’t turn up intoxicated otherwise you may be refused entry or worse. You may sleep through your favourite band or having someone hold your hair back just when your favourite song is being played. Enjoy the day and take it easy ok?
5. Meeting up with mates is easy. Check the site map, plan to meet at a certain spot, make sure you both purchase your ticket on line to save time.
6. Meeting up to go home once the festival is over and the After Parties are finished? Make sure you have a plan to once again meet at a certain spot to catch a cab home together in the wee hours.
7. Eat well. This is one long day and you have access to the finest seafood in Queensland. You have heaps of options to work your way through the street sampling a selection of healthy seafood snacks over your long Festival day.
8. Drink plenty of water. It is free, fill your water bottle and sip all day. Pace yourself – one alcoholic beverage to three same sized cups of water – take it easy. You want to remember the day and enjoy it don’t you?
9. If you do drink or use substances of any kind, and you start to feel under the weather, find a volunteer and they will take you to St John’s, First Aid, Red Frogs or the Festival Site Office. We are here to help you look after yourself.

Looking out for You

• There will be a lot of people living it up on Caxton Street on Sunday 2 May so we’d like you to consider some safety ideas.
• Activities such as moshing, crowd surfing, climbing and stage diving are dangerous and may lead to eviction from the event. The festival organizer accepts no liability for any injuries or damages caused by these activities. Take it easy, relax and enjoy the music.
• Security will have discretionary powers to restrict crowd numbers in front of stages and will be on the lookout to protect people who are too small or young, intoxicated, aggressive or possibly drug affected, incapacitated, in a wheel chair or on crutches, or simply not coping with the crowds. Please look around and if you see someone in a spot of bother, ask a Volunteer or Red Frog or Security Guard or a Policeman to assist them.

Festival Volunteers

St John’s Ambulance, Qld Police and the Caxton Street Security Squad have a big job watching out for you on the Street and keeping everyone safe. Festival Volunteers will be floating around all day and night to assist with directions to the toilets, first aid, Red Frogs if you need a sugar shit and a bit of a chill out, the best food available, keep you on track with the music program. If they cannot help you, they will find someone who can. Don’t be shy – go up and say hello.

Security

Our Security Team is there to keep YOU safe. It’s a tough gig to look after everything and everyone in ONE day in ONE Street so please listen and abide by any reasonable request or command from the Caxton Street security. If you need help or see someone needing help please find a Security officer straight away.

Important Safety Announcements

Between acts on all stages, our Festival MC will be making announcements about General Crowd Safety Requirements. In the event of anything happening, announcements will be made from all stages. Keep an ear out, check in every so often and listen.

Emergency Evacuation

OK You’ve seen the blockbuster movies? Well, in the unlikely circumstances a building, area or the entire site may have to be evacuated or cleared; you need to know what to do. Follow directions from Emergency Services, Police, Fire Brigade and listen out for announcements from all three stage areas. Look out for each other.

First Aid

There will be two St John’s stations on the site to treat seriously ill or injured people. If you need assistance that isn’t necessarily urgent, please refer to the several volunteers roaming the Street and also manning the Festival Site Office.

Red Frogs

The famous Red Frogs team will be at the Festival all day and night giving out red frogs, ice blocks and water and helping you to chill out when you need it in their Festival Chill Out zone, lending a hand, shoulder or ear, taking you to St John’s, Security or Police or simply hanging with you while you live it up on Caxton Street. Situated next to St John’s ambulance on Cathie Street, make sure you check them out! We are lucky to have them come along and share this day with us again! Thanks Red Frogs!
